How to tell them apart
The flags of Argentina and Uruguay are both blue and white with a golden Sun of May, so they’re easy to mix up at a glance. This is what gives each one away:
- Argentina has three wide bands (light blue, white, light blue); Uruguay has nine thin stripes.
- Argentina's Sun of May sits in the centre; Uruguay's sits in the top corner by the hoist.
- Uruguay's blue is darker than Argentina's sky blue.
