The white band is charged in the center with the coat of arms of Equatorial Guinea, a grey shield with a silk-cotton tree, the national motto in Spanish, and six six-pointed stars representing the country's five islands and continental territory. According to local legend, indigenous and Spanish representatives signed their first treaty under a silk-cotton tree, hence its centering on the flag.\n\nAccording to American vexillologist Whitney Smith, the blue triangle represented the ocean connecting different parts of Equatorial Guinea, while green symbolised the country's vegetation, white symbolised peace, and red symbolised the blood shed for independence.","url":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Equatorial_Guinea"},"photos":["https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/9b/1729_West_Africa_map_%28Cameroon_%26_Nigeria%29.jpg","https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/92/Aerial_view_of_Malabo_Airport.jpeg/500px-Aerial_view_of_Malabo_Airport.jpeg","https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/9f/Annobon_Island_Equatorial_Guinea.jpg/500px-Annobon_Island_Equatorial_Guinea.jpg","https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/1/19/Antonov_An-72P%2C_Equatorial_Guinea_-_Air_Force_AN1593110.jpg/500px-Antonov_An-72P%2C_Equatorial_Guinea_-_Air_Force_AN1593110.jpg"]}
