How to tell them apart
The flags of Slovenia and Slovakia are both horizontal tricolours of white, blue and red, so they’re easy to mix up at a glance. This is what gives each one away:
- Slovakia's shield is red with a white double cross and covers all three bands.
- Slovenia's smaller shield is blue with a white mountain and three gold stars, and sits higher, across the white and blue bands.
- Slovenia's flag is longer: 1:2, against Slovakia's 2:3.
