How to tell them apart
The flags of Italy and Mexico are both vertical tricolours of green, white and red, so they’re easy to mix up at a glance. This is what gives each one away:
- Mexico has its coat of arms in the white band, an eagle on a cactus eating a snake; Italy's flag is plain.
- Mexico's flag is longer: 4:7, against Italy's 2:3.
- Mexico's green is darker than Italy's.
