Tell them apart

Iceland vs Norway flag

How to tell them apart

The flags of Iceland and Norway are both Nordic crosses, with the upright set towards the hoist, so they’re easy to mix up at a glance. This is what gives each one away:

  1. The colours are swapped: Iceland is a blue field with a red cross, Norway a red field with a blue cross.
  2. Both edge the inner cross in white, so look at the field colour.

Test yourself

Drill Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland: each flag once, in random order. Place it on the map, then name it.
