How to tell them apart
The flags of Iraq and Yemen are both pan-Arab horizontal tricolours with a white middle band over black, so they’re easy to mix up at a glance. This is what gives each one away:
- Iraq has green Arabic script, Allahu akbar, across its white band; Yemen's flag is plain.
- Both are 2:3 with red, white and black bands, so the script is the tell.
