How to tell them apart
The flags of Guinea and Mali are both pan-African vertical tricolours of green, yellow and red, so they’re easy to mix up at a glance. This is what gives each one away:
- Guinea reverses Mali's order: red, yellow, green from the hoist, where Mali runs green, yellow, red.
- Neither has an emblem, so check which colour sits next to the pole.
