How to tell them apart
The flags of Egypt and Syria are both pan-Arab horizontal tricolours with a white middle band over black, so they’re easy to mix up at a glance. This is what gives each one away:
- Syria's top band is green; Egypt's is red.
- Syria has three red stars in the white band; Egypt has a gold eagle.
